Network Engineer
Overview:
BAM is seeking an innovative, driven self-starter for a Network Engineer position with a focus on observability and automation. This technical role requires advanced engineering experience in implementing, automating and monitoring a highly available global network infrastructure. The hire will have the opportunity to work on a wide array of networking technologies providing leading edge solutions to the firm. The candidate will embody a mindset of continuous learning and process improvement. A basic understanding of financial markets and trade lifecycles is a plus.
As a Network Engineer at BAM, you will:
- Develop capabilities to manage the network at scale through automation and comprehensive monitoring and alerting.
- Design, implement and maintain a multi-vendor global trading network.
- Work closely with technology and investment teams to understand their requirements and provide solutions that align with business needs.
- Define and implement standards and best practices.
- Act as an escalation point for troubleshooting network issues.
- Participate in a 24/7 on call rotation and out of hours network maintenance.

To be considered a good technical fit, you must have:
- Extensive experience in network observability and automation.
- Proficient with modern observability tools and protocols: Prometheus, Grafana, Telegraf, Cisco Telemetry, gNMI, YANG.
- Solid understanding of traditional network monitoring systems: Zabbix, LibreNMS, SNMP.
- Extensive experience with network automation and automation tools: Netbox, Ansible, Jinja, Python, Git, NETCONF, RESTCONF, Temporal, Terraform.
- Knowledge and experience managing network infrastructure in public clouds (AWS).
- Experience with traditional network infrastructure and network protocols including BGP, OSPF, PIM, and IGMP.
- The ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
Bonus Points for:
- Experience working with enterprise voice products including Cisco CUCM, WebEx Calling, Cloud9.
- Knowledge of Cisco ISE, Meraki
