Business Development (BD) is a dedicated talent acquisition function focused on identifying and attracting Equity Long/Short investment talent at the PM, senior analyst, and analyst level. We conduct thorough due diligence on candidates beginning with an extensive, multi-step interview process through to qualitative and quantitative assessments. Our success is dependent upon talent sourcing and relationship building, and we continue our relationships with new hires to assist with team development and support PMs as they build and execute their business plans.
What you’ll do
You will drive candidate engagement, talent pipelining, and initial screening for Analyst and Portfolio Manager (PM) hiring for the Asia Fundamental Equities business. Your key responsibilities will include working with BD colleagues, PMs, and key stakeholders to define talent needs, building and maintaining high-caliber pools of candidates, and driving effective initial screening to match prospective candidates with current needs.
- Spearhead the full recruitment life cycle, from candidate sourcing through offer negotiations and onboarding for front office hires
- Build and maintain sector-specific and region-specific pipelines of high-quality investing talent through company mapping and direct outreach
- Collaborate closely with APAC management and portfolio managers to understand business needs
- Manage candidate flow from multiple channels including external recruiting firms, employee referrals, and online job postings
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of data in our customer relationship management tool
- Stay abreast of industry trends and developments and proactively inform management of industry news and recommend focus areas for talent acquisition
- Collaborate with the global BD team on best practices and recruitment strategy
- Maintain a strong relationship with the Compliance team to ensure adherence to all policies and procedures
What’s required
- 1-5 years of experience with a demonstrated ability to build strong relationships within the long/short equities community
- Excellent communication skills with fluency in English and Japanese
- A self-starter who is flexible and can adapt to evolving requirements
- Team player with a history of building strong relationships
- Strong interpersonal skills and a high degree of self-awareness
- Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment; comfortable managing different projects with competing timelines while prioritizing appropriately
- Strong organization skills and attention to detail
- Ability to think strategically and develop long-range business plans that will support the organization’s strategic vision
