Meet the Team
Millennium’s Global Risk Management Department is responsible for identifying, measuring, monitoring, managing, and reporting the risks associated with the firm’s portfolios at both the Firm-wide and Portfolio Manager levels. Within this organization, the Risk Engineering team supports critical risk workflows and analytics across global markets, including the platforms and services that power official VaR, stress testing, and other highly sensitive risk reporting used by risk managers, researchers, and investment stakeholders across the firm.
What You'll Do
Take end-to-end ownership of core risk platforms, from requirements and architecture through implementation, deployment, and production support
Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing engineering team in Bengaluru, fostering a culture of ownership, accountability, and engineering excellence
Define and drive architecture for multi-asset, low-latency, high-availability services that support critical risk analytics
Partner closely with risk managers, portfolio managers, researchers, modellers, and quants globally to shape priorities and deliver high-impact solutions
Align stakeholders on priorities, timelines, and delivery expectations, communicating clearly across technical and business audiences
Modernize engineering practices, challenge outdated approaches, and champion the effective use of AI-assisted development and risk-focused AI tooling
Build scalable, resilient Java-based services and streaming solutions that support real-time and end-of-day risk, P&L, and reporting workflows
Strengthen production quality through robust observability, testing, release discipline, and operational ownership
What You Bring
8+ years of professional software development experience, including deep, recent hands-on expertise in Java, with strong knowledge of collections, concurrency, JVM fundamentals, and Java 17+; Python experience is also valuable
Demonstrated success leading engineering teams as a team lead, tech lead, or engineering manager, including mentoring, hiring, and setting technical direction
Proven experience owning systems end to end, from architecture and design through production support and continuous improvement
Strong foundation in object-oriented design, design patterns, and multithreaded or distributed systems
Experience designing and building low-latency, high-availability services and event-driven or streaming pipelines, including Kafka
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the credibility to partner directly with front-office and risk stakeholders
Hands-on experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or SQL Server, along with strong Unix or Linux command-line skills
Familiarity with CI/CD, Git, Jenkins, modern DevOps practices, and an entrepreneurial mindset that is comfortable with ambiguity and driven to improve how teams work
