Oil Analyst – Geneva/Zug

Balyasny Asset Management is looking for an exceptional Analyst to work on an Oil portfolio team in Switzerland – open to Geneva or Zug. Overview
Support an oil trading team through fundamental analysis, quantitative modelling, risk monitoring, and trade execution. The role translates market data and supply-demand balances into actionable views across derivative markets.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain oil supply-and-demand balances.
- Analyse refinery runs, inventories, vessel movements, arbitrage economics, weather, power demand, and macro drivers.
- Develop trade views across cracks, time spreads, geographical spreads, crude spreads, and flat price.
- Build and enhance Python, SQL, and Excel models, dashboards, and trading signals.
- Monitor P&L, positions, exposures, and daily risk.
- Produce concise market commentary and communicate trade ideas clearly.
Requirements
- Between 5-7 years of experience
- Degree in economics, finance, engineering, maths, or a related quantitative discipline.
- Relevant experience in oil including fuel oil and crude
- Strong understanding of physical oil markets, supply-demand fundamentals, and derivatives.
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, and Excel.
- Strong analytical ability, attention to detail, and commercial judgement.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced trading environment.
- Must be based in Geneva or Zug
