The D. E. Shaw group seeks a highly motivated associate to join the D. E. Shaw Investment Management (DESIM) group’s portfolio strategy team. DESIM develops and manages active equity and multi-asset class investment strategies that complement the firm’s longstanding hedge fund strategies, leveraging advanced research and technology to serve institutional clients globally. This role sits at the intersection of investments, analytics, and client engagement, offering the opportunity to gain deep expertise in DESIM portfolios and communicate insights to both internal and external stakeholders in a collegial, dynamic environment.

Develop analytical frameworks to assess portfolio positioning, risk exposures, and performance drivers across DESIM strategies and products.
Produce high-quality, investor-facing content—including presentations, portfolio reviews, thought leadership, and other commercial materials—in close coordination with other teams at the firm.
Serve as a product expert for DESIM strategies, engaging directly with investors and prospects to explain portfolio construction, performance attribution, and market dynamics.
Provide context on DESIM’s offerings, including actively managed equity portfolios, multi-asset class strategies, and solutions designed to complement institutional clients’ existing allocations.
Partner with other members of the portfolio strategy team on client engagements and collaborate across the firm to develop consistent, accurate messaging that supports DESIM’s business objectives.
Contribute to ongoing process improvements in portfolio analytics, reporting, and communication workflows.
